Hiring Range: $4016 to $5354 per month
Since the home base of this position is in Dickinson, ND, an Oil Patch Add-on of $500 per month ($2.88 per hour) will be added to the salary of the individual selected for this position. The Oil Patch Add-On is temporary and may be discontinued at any time without notice. The Oil Patch Add-On is not included in the employee's base salary, but is included for purposes of calculating overtime pay.
Dependent upon the number of qualifying applicantions for this position, the hiring unit will consider offering a Recruitment Bonus and/or Reimbursement of Moving Expenses to the successful applicant.
Minimum Qualifications
The Department will attempt to fill this position at the Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor level, with a salary range of $4016 to $5354 per month. If unable to fill at this level, the Department will consider underfilling the position at the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor level, with a salary range of $3675 to $4900 per month. Minimum qualifications for both levels are detailed below.
Senior Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselor requires a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Administration/Services, Psychometrics, Behavioral Health, Behavioral Science, Disability Studies, Human Relations, Human Services, Marriage and Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education or Vocational Assessment/Evaluation AND Two years of experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; AND Certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
If unable to find qualified candidates, will consider underfilling as a VR Counselor
Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselor requires a Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Administration/Services, Psychometrics, Behavioral Health, Behavioral Science, Disability Studies, Human Relations, Human Services, Marriage and Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education or Vocational Assessment/Evaluation AND one of the following:
Two years experience working with persons with disabilities in a direct service capacity; or
One year of work experience as a vocational rehabilitation counselor; or
A master's degree in one of the above disciplines.
Preference will be given to applicants who meet the ND Qualified Rehabilitation Professional (QRP) standards as follows: a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC); a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or a counseling-related field from a program accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Counselor Education (CORE) or the Council on Accreditation of Counseling-Related Programs (CACRP); OR a master's degree in a closely-related field and eligibility to write the Council on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) Examination.

Summary of Work
This individual will work with clients from high school age through adults with a full range of physical and mental disabilities, who require services to obtain and maintain competitive employment. Client services include: information, referral and intake; vocational assessment; counseling and guidance including using cognitive motivational techniques and motivational interviewing with clients who may be unmotivated or unrealistic about their barriers and goals; develop Individualized Plans for Employment; job development and job seeking skills training; job placement and follow-up; plus maintain a general caseload and complete the appropriate paperwork. This individual must be able to develop and maintain close working relationships with service providers, employers and referral sources. This position also requires the individual to develop and maintain business contacts and to assist the business community by providing answers to disability related issues. The position requires traveling to rural counties within the Dickinson region and school districts, providing outreach services to clients and employers.
